Hi,

I suggest this.

NOTICE

To : All pupils of class 8 A

This Sunday our school is going on a trip to Dalat. If any of you would like to come, please register with Teacher Mary by March 20.

Tom Kerry

Teacher in charge

please tell me how to use the verbs " join " and "participate /take part in " if they cannot be used interchangeably.

That's a large question. Generally speaking and briefly put, you join a group but you participate in / take part in something. But they do get interchanged quite often.

Best wishes, Clive

Students: Are you brave enough to let our tutors analyse your pronunciation?
Thank you Clive.

By the way , I read this sentence ( written by an Australian manager concerning the resignation submitted by a worker ), but don't understand it. Please explain to me the phrase in bold type:

" I don't see what we can do much except understand why he leaves the company"

Kind regards
Hi,

I read this sentence ( written by an Australian manager concerning the resignation submitted by a worker ), but don't understand it. Please explain to me the phrase in bold type:

" I don't see what we can do much except understand why he leaves the company"

"I don't see what we can do I can't think of anything that we can do

much The word is not well-paced in the sentence. Better would we 'I don't see much that we can do'

except understand

why he leaves Not careful grammar, which would be 'why he is leaving'

the company"

The general idea in the sentence is that they don''t really want this guy to leave, but they can't do anything to prevent it.

Best wishes, Clive
Thank you Clive .Sorry for saying thank you too late . Recently , my computer had problem so I couldn't say thank you in time.

Best wishes
