May 19th Youth and Sports Festival...

If you visit Turkey you'll want to know at least the basics about Atatürk because his image is everywhere and his influence is still alive generations after his death (in 1938).

Granted the surname Atatürk ("Father of the Turks") by a grateful parliament, Kemal made peaceand even established friendly relations-with Turkey's erstwhile enemies. Before his untimely death in 1938, he spearheaded his country's economic recovery and laid the foundations for Turkey's neutrality in World War II.

It may well be said that without Atatürk, there would be no modern Turkish Republic , well ahead of its Islamic neighbors in democratic, social, cultural and commercial progress.

Every year the FTAA parade coincides approximately with May 19th, the date back in 1919 on which Mustafa Kemal Ataturk has launched the Turkish War of Liberation by landing on the Black Sea port of Samsun. Hi there,

Well, I agree with you. We'd be telling more about each other's culture and the festivals.

As I come from Nepal, thoug only Hindu Nation, we celebrate many things from all the religions together.

Of Buddhits, Christians, Muslims and all.

To name as for Hindus, who love the festivals it's why Nepal is the country of festivals and the capital city is called the city of gods/temple.

The greatest of the great festival in my country is Vijaya Dashami, the story goes far back to some million years ago when the God Rama defeated the Ravana the evil king, people celebrated the victory. Then it is regarded as the festival of the victory over the evil.

The festival takes 9 days and the nights to complete and each day is catagorized to different sorts of celebration. The most enchanting part of this is to visit the relatives and the elders and take their blessings. It has its own way of taking and giving the blessings.

Well it got lot more things so I'd be telling if anyone wants to know.

I'm posting a photo of the great temple and the great god of HIndus the Shiva. It's of Pashupatinath.

Regards
