Hi!

I'm editing an article. My co-author wrote: "The city, located on the south-eastern part of the island, is ..." but my ears keep telling me it should be: "The city, located in the south-eastern part of the island, is ..."

I tried looking "located " up in a dictionary and googling ... both weren't really useful!
Could somebody help me? I'm interested in formal American English this time.

Many thanks!

You are right: in a part, but: on an island. I think the word island has confused the author.
