Hi, I'm looking for an idiom with the following meaning:

Sometimes you won't have a new beginning unless you give up.

In case that there isn't such a idiom in English, will you please polish this one?

An example of the use of this idiom:
A person who does not do well in a certain industry is trying very hard to improve the performance. But another person suggests him/her quit that industry and find a job in an industry that is more relevant to his/her experience. The person who makes the suggestion says:

Sometimes you won't have a new beginning unless you give up.

The only thing that comes to mind is "you have to hit bottom before you can start up again", but I don't think you want anything that extreme.
Yes, you are right.
But I l have learnt another idoim. Isn't that great?
Thank you very much.
Students: We have free audio pronunciation exercises.
One that comes to my mind is a bit different, but the general idea is similar:

When one door closes, another one opens.
Thank you very much.

It is good, but I need something even closer. Maybe I am a bit greedy. Emotion: smile

Perhaps you will do better to register and start a new thread of your own, telling us what meanings.

Hi, Feebs. I think this was just a bumping up of his original thread, because he hadn't really had an acceptable answer.

I am sorry to hear that.

This morning when I opened this webpage and found my thread on the first page, I was very glad that someone might have come up with some stuff I have been looking for.

I can swear that I have not posted, including opening new threads or replying to existing threads, as an anonymous user. If I really want to bump up my post, I will log in and ask for other member's attention in my own user ID.

You can simply ask the admins to forbid anonymous posting. To be frank, as far as I know, this forum is the only one that allowed anonymous posting.
