Hi, What is the meaning of manhood and lashing out in the following text?

"A piece of his soul and most of his manhood had been left behind in that courtroom. Lashing out in the privacy of his big truck was therapeutic.

Is he happy that a piece of his soul and most of his manhood had been left behind in that courtroom or he feels uncomfortable about what had happened in the court?

Thanks

He was very hurt, disturbed, and angry about what happened in court. But if he had reacted there, they might just put him in jail. So he waited until he got into his truck and then released his feelings.
