Hi,

What is the meaning of finesse around the pockets in the following text?

They were frisked, though it was obvious the guards wanted little contact. punching and slapping were okay, but nothing that required finesse around pockets. Almost everything was stolen or"confiscated" by.....

Thanks

Students: Are you brave enough to let our tutors analyse your pronunciation?

The sense of the given passage is uncertain as written. The meaning of the text, and the phrase "finesse around the pockets," depends on what comes after "Almost everything was stolen or 'confiscated' by..." Who is stealing what here?

Thanks for the replies. Could you please tell me what is the meaning of" but nothing that required" in the text? Does it mean slapping and punching?

thanks
