I can't get the meaning of the below paragraph. I will appreciate you if you teach me. Thank you in advance!

----------------------------------

We all like spectacular scenery, and everyone should see the famous glaciers, volcanoes, giant trees, canyons, and waterfalls in the national parks of the United States and Canada. But when I travel, I spend most of my time in cities. Why don't I want to live in nature and enjoy it? From my hiking and camping trips, I know that nature doesn't like me! A tent will protect me from the cold, but I hate to set it up first, and can't set up an umberalla tent in a strong wind. A fire will keep me warm, but I can't make a fire in the rain. A backpack with a sleeping bag, a camping stove, and storm gear is heavy! I can't survive in nature. The solitude of the wilderness is for animals and plants, not for me.

---------------------------------

I gusessed two possible meanings of the pink and blue sentences each myself. Whichs would be right? or Are they meaning something else?

For the pink sentence, (a) There are some reasons I hate to live in nature. And the following are the reasons. (b) I also want to live in nature and want to enjoy it. But some obstacles prohibit me from enjoying it.

For the blue sentence, (a) Nature hates me. (original meaning of ' doesn't like') (b) Nature doesn't fit to me. or, I am not a person who is adaptable to nature. or ....

Which meanings are closer? If not, teach me please!!

Hi,

I gusessed two possible meanings of the pink and blue sentences each myself. Whichs would be right? or Are they meaning something else?

For the pink sentence, (a) There are some reasons I hate to live in nature. And the following are the reasons. (b) I also want to live in nature and want to enjoy it. But some obstacles prohibit me from enjoying it. A is pretty close.

For the blue sentence, (a) Nature hates me. (original meaning of ' doesn't like') (b) Nature doesn't fit to me. or, I am not a person who is adaptable to nature. or .... A is the literal meaning, but the writer's real meaning is B. He is speaking of Nature as if it were a person, which it isn't.

I think your understanding of this is OK.

Best wishes, Clive

Hi Emotion: smile
I guess it means "thanks to my experience in hicking and camping trips, I've understood that..." in this sentence. By the way after reading the whole text you can also understand it like you said, but only after having read it all!

Thank you.

Then, if you don't mind, I want to ask one more. You will remember the blue sentence.

From my hiking and camping trips, I know that nature doesn't like me.

Can this sentence mean, by any chance, that 'I don't like hiking and camping trips?
