Hi,

What is the meaning of damn sure? I know the meaning of sure but can't really guess the meaning of damn sure as a whole. Rather I must say I couldn't figure out that in what way damn is being used. My suggestion is that here damn means ''a minimum amount or degree (as of care or consideration)''.

Why doesn't damnedly exist?

We don't know. This is how the history of the language worked for this word. Just accept it.

very very sure
Following the intensifier line of thinking, I am wondering if "damned" sure is not an emotional, and personal, expression of commitment, that is, "I am so sure about this that I would risk be damned if I am wrong."
damn sure means stressing the word "sure"
