Hi,

What is the meaning of damn sure? I know the meaning of sure but can't really guess the meaning of damn sure as a whole. Rather I must say I couldn't figure out that in what way damn is being used. My suggestion is that here damn means ''a minimum amount or degree (as of care or consideration)''.

Emotion: winkAnd, technically, since it is used as an adverb modifying "sure", the proper form would be "damnedly" (if it existed). Happy New Year, everyone!

Why doesn't damnedly exist?

We don't know. This is how the history of the language worked for this word. Just accept it.
