hello everyone,

as it says in the title, I strongly believe that media outlets are big fat liers, especially those in the US like CNN, really they just turn numbers upside down and insode out especially when it comes to american potlics(say Donald Rumsfield)

aside from CNN there is a lot of dishonesty going on in media, especially TV, reports.

Media outlets in every country suffer from the same problem. They must sell themselves. Therefore, you inevitably find distortion of the facts from all of them.

Could'nt agree more with you. It is more so especially in India. Indian media is biased towards middle class society.
Site Hint: Check out our list of pronunciation videos.
Well, I agree a bit that Media is being a bit big fat lie all over the world because the demagogues are leading the nations and they do it for their own sake. Still it is the matter of the secrets of the nations, may be, I'm not sure.

There's a term - yellow journalism - it has ruled the media around the globe.

and we people are responsible for it if we don't pay attentions towards them what the hell in the world they will do ???

cheers
here in France, media are private or public.

So, public media belong to the State of France and private become to big companies. One of the biggest compagny in France which have newspapers is Dassault a military compagny. And as you can know they defend their interests, so the information isn't sharp.

For the public companies, they are the mirror of the government. In France media look like american media, and for me it's a big concern and threateb of our society. Because, policies make show instead of work. We don't have nowadays in France discusse about real troubles or problems. It's a little worrying for me.
My goodness, you guys seem to be bashing on the media (no duh), but honestly, there has to be truth were the rumour starts... even if the rumor was based on a pair of earrings some chick wore someday when wine spilled on her dress to some chick wearing a pair of earrings when she went berzerk and killed all the people at her party, therefore spilling wine on her dress.

My point is that of course it's jacked up, it has to be to catch the attention of us who see this as wrong as turn around and watch it to make ourselves feel better about those that we see as more successful. We tear down those we envy. (I'm really talking about celebrities here, people really are ignored due to the fact that we're 'boring')
Students: Are you brave enough to let our tutors analyse your pronunciation?
Kriss We tear down those we envy. (I'm really talking about celebrities here, people really are ignored due to the fact that we're 'boring')

No envy here. Rather, I would "tear down" celebrities because they represent what's shallow and insipid about American society. They are professional liars, and yet they garner attention best reserved for people who actually make a difference. Don't get me wrong...I like a good movie now and then, but perspective on the issue of celebrity in this country is warped, to say the least. I suppose its the fault of the media and the public as well, but it is a circle, and without people willing to sell themselves out for the cameras and some money, the circle can't be complete. Private citizens aren't "boring," but we've been trained to think we are. I see the entire debacle as not much different than any other form of control...keep the masses distracted by glitz, and they're much easier to keep subdued. People are to the point in this country where they want to be subdued by any distraction possible.

Yes, there is always that point of veiw to take on them. -.-

But, exactly as you say. It's a vicious circle. (when is it not?) We (people in general here) tend to not break from the crowd so often, or loud enough, to be noticed. What I'm trying to get at here, is that you won't go ten minutes or so on a subway, in school, or in a city, without some reference to how that guy looks almost like Orlando Bloom, or how Marilyn is such a babe... er something to that effect.

It's not so much envy in the sense that we should be as mindlessly, impossibly stupid as they, but how we seem to think we deserve the money and attention they do. We seem to hate how they get away with everything, therefore we try to track down all they did that's wrong, get the dirt on them so that we can bash them, therefore feeling better about ourselves.

We advertise this on the media with stuff like, 'Brittany Drives With Baby on Lap' and we think to ourselves, 'Oh, there she goes, being a friggin' moron, like we thought she was.'

Then we turn around and try to read more and more about it, seeing how human we can make these demi gods, when in reality, the only reason they are thus is due to our own awe and envy.

Basically, we said the same thing. I hate it when I do this.

Lol. Emotion: big smile

I think everything you listed is tied into the same method of control I mentioned earlier.
The question is...who exactly is controlling us?
My vote goes to Dr. Nick Rivera.
