Hello, teachers

I don't get the meaning of the metaphor used in this sentence.

The slide on the playground was a hot stove.

What is the meaning of the sentence?

As far as I understand 'a hot stove' means a conversation on baseball following season.

However, here it doesn't make sense to me.

Please, help mr with this.

In very hot, sunny weather, the steel surface of a slide can get very hot, too hot to touch even.

Then it means the slide is hot like a hot stove. So simple. Thank you a lot for your answer.

This is odd. People normally talk of being in a playground.
