New2grammarDid you miss the show (on TV)?Did you miss out on the show (on TV)?Is there any difference between the two? Thanks.
I got to the party late and missed out on the food = by the time I got to the party there was no food left.
I must not assume - it makes an ass out of u and me.
But I do know assume
You miss something = you didn't do it
I missed my plane = I didn't catch my plane
I missed the show on TV = I didn't see it.
I missed him. = I didn't see/talk to him.
Miss out on something = lost the opportunity for something.
I missed out on (the opportunity of) being chosen for the school play = I was not chosen.
I missed out on (the opportunity of) going to France with the school. = I lost the chance to go.
Apparently they'll be giving away loads of free items. I'm going to get there early so I don't miss out.
I missed the show ( I didn't see it)
I missed out on the show ( I missed the opportunity to watch it)
Thanks, Optilang.
