Hi,

This is my first blog. COuld someone please tell me if this blog is fine and no mistake. I'm gona post it on my blog space and i have no confidence uploading it without proofread by someone who is proficient in english language. I would appreciate if someone could rate my blog. I hope to improve my writing skill through constantly working on my blog. As i'm from a chinese-speaking country and i'd often take word for word translation which might sound a little awakward in english, do pinpoint the errors as much as you could. You could also suggest any idioms or flowery sentences to make it as conversational and as natural as possible.

Thanks to whoever answering this post.

My 1st Blog

I don't remember since when the blog thing has started and become so common now that everyone seems to be compelled to have one, at least people reckoned themselve as I-savvy. I would hesistant to share my journal with anyone else except myself, not to mention making it to the public. After all, journal is not a communcal thing which meant to be shared, at the very least not to everyone. Come to think of it, if you caught someone stealing a look at your journal, be it your closest siblings, parent or your lovely niece, that you were so cafefully kept to make sure out of everyone's sight that probably only you know where to dig it out, how would you react? Enraged? or you'd just shrug your anger off as if nothing had happened. Logically, one would get mad, and i mean really really mad! Well, at least, that was me. Well, gone were the days where journal were treated with full of privacy. The IT evolution has surely change the people mindset nowaday. I wonder if it is a good or bad thing? Mind you, im creating one for my own now, for the sake of not to be phase out in the world where people is talking about online & internet stuff. I'm still inept in writing blog, but i will try to make sure i will constantly update my blog and share every bits of my life with all my friends. Its only my opening blog and i already fall in love with this thing as i couldn't wait to share my sometimes bitter and sometimes sweet encounters with all of you in my sec, third and many more blogs to come. I think i have an answer for myself now which i was trying to figure out mo ago, that IT evolution is definitely a good thing, at least for me:) I guess thats all for now, g'nite lovelies....
Hi,

English is not my first langangue either but let me try.

My 1st Blog

I don't remember since when the blog thing has started and become so common now that everyone seems to be compelled(omitted) to have one, at least people reckoned themselve as I-savvy (what do you mean?). I would hesistant (perhaps ...hesitate?) to share my journal with anyone else except myself, not to mention making it to the public. (too long....) Enraged? or you'd just shrug your anger off as if nothing had happened. Logically, one would get mad, and i mean really really mad! Well, at least, that was me ( i would). Well, gone were the days where journal were treated with full of privacy. The IT evolution has surely change the people mindset nowaday. I wonder if it is a good or bad thing? Mind you, im creating one for my own (myself?) now, for the sake of not to be phase out in the world where people is talking about online & internet stuff (errr.....what do you mean?). I'm still inept in writing blog, but i will try to (omitted) make sure i will (omitted) constantly update my blog and share every bits of my life with all my friends. Its only my opening blog and i already fall in love with this thing as i couldn't wait to share my sometimes bitter and sometimes sweet encounters (weird) with all of you in my sec, third and many more blogs to come. I think i have an answer for myself now which i was trying to figure out mo ago, that IT evolution is definitely a good thing, at least for me I guess thats all for now, g'nite lovelies....

I would rate your blog 6 out of 10. I think you post is okie. Well, let's just wait for the moderator to give his or her opinion about your post. I might not correct tho.
Hi there,

The writing got better towards the end. You know a decent number of idiomatic expressions, but you need to work on your grammar.

I've left some of these for you to fix. After all, it's your blog...

* - delete

I don't remember *since when the blog thing *has started to become so common *now that everyone seems to *(be compelled to) have one, at least people who reckoned themselve as internet-savvy. I would hesistant (verb please) to share my journal with anyone else (*words deleted), not to mention making it *to *the public. After all, journal is not a *communcal thing which is meant to be shared, at the very least not to everyone. Come to think of it, if you caught someone stealing a look at your journal, be that person your closest siblings, parent or your lovely niece, *that (missing sth here) you were so cafefully (sp.) kept *to *make *sure out of everyone's sight that probably only you know where to dig it out, how would you react? Enraged? or you'd just shrug your anger off as if nothing had happened. Logically, one would get mad, and i mean really really mad! Well, at least, that was me. Well, gone were the days where (days - not a place) journal were treated with *full *of privacy. The IT evolution has surely change (verb form) the people (possessive case) mindset nowaday. I wonder if it is a good or bad thing? Mind you, im creating one for my own now, for the sake of not to be phase (verb form) out in the world where people is (sing/pl) talking about online & internet stuff. I'm still inept in writing blog, but i will try to make sure i will constantly update my blog and share every bits (sing/pl) of my life with all my friends. Its only my opening blog and i already fall in love with this thing as i couldn't wait to share my sometimes bitter and sometimes sweet encounters with all of you in my sec, third and many more blogs to come. Thanks a lot Joeviee & Julie for your inputs:)

I have rephrased the blog n it sounds much better. But i do hv a question here,

1.Gone were the days where (days - not a place) journal were treated with *full *of privacy,

I reprased it as, "Gone were the days which journal were treated with privacy". (Is it correct? )

2. After all, journal is not a *communcal thing which is meant to be shared.

Why communal can not be used in this sentense? I meant to say, 'share-able'. Is it not common or its simply not right?

3.I don't remember *since when the blog thing *has started to become so common *now that everyone seems to *(be compelled to) have one...

Is 'since' incorrect or redundant? and how about '.....blog thing has started becoming'.......is it okie?

Thanks

Sorry, no...gone were the days when...

2. After all, journal is not a *communcal thing which is meant to be shared.

Simply not right. Communal - of or relating to a community; characterized by collective ownership and use of property. Sounds like the community owns your journal or something. You need an adj. form of the word "communicate".

3.I don't remember *since when the blog thing *has started to become so common *now that everyone seems to *(be compelled to) have one...

Is 'since' incorrect or redundant? and how about '.....blog thing has started becoming'.......is it okie?

Since is incorrect. Technially, I think simple past goes with the sentence--"blog thing started..."

Again, you need to work on your grammar. You know some idiomatic expressions but you tend to make mistakes when you try to use them.

Hello Julie,

I have tried to restructure the whole passage based on your suggestions but there are some tense and word choice i need your clarification.

I don't remember since when the blog thing started to become so common that everyone seems to have one, at least all my friends. I would hesitate to share my journal with anyone else, not to mention making it public. After all, journal is not a thing which is meant to be shared, at the very least not to everyone. Come to think of it, if you caught someone stealing a look at your journal you were so carefully kept out of everyone's sight that probably only you know where to dig it out, be that person your closest siblings, parent or your lovely niece, how would you react? Enraged? or you'd just shrug your anger off as if nothing had happened? Logically, one would get mad, and i mean really really mad! Well, at least, that was me. Well, gone were the days when journal were treated with privacy. The IT evolution has surely changed the people’s mindset nowadays. I wonder if it is a good or bad thing? Mind you, I’m creating one for my own now, for the sake of not to be phased out in the world where people is talking about online blog & online journal….etc.I'm still inept in writing blog. Anyway, i will try to make sure constantly updating my blog and share every bits of my life with all my friends. Its only my opening blog and i already fall in love with this thing as i couldn't wait to share my sometimes grueling and sometimes syrupy encounters with all of you in my sec, third and many more blogs to come..................

1. Why is 'since' incorrect in this text. It seems fine to me as id sometimes hear ppl asking 'Since when you are so into computer?'

2. I have rephrased the sentence, is it better than the original one?

3. Is 'I would' a better choice based on the sequence of the sentence?

4. Can i use the expressions 'syrupy' to replace 'sweet' in that sentense?

Julie, i really appreciate your explanations:)

Thanks

Hi Joeviee,

1. Why is 'since' incorrect in this text. It seems fine to me as id sometimes hear ppl asking 'Since when you are so into computer?'

We often hear things we don't normally put on paper.

2. I have rephrased the sentence, is it better than the original one?

Come to think of it, if you caught someone stealing a look at your journal you were so carefully kept (verb form) out of everyone's sight that probably only you know where to dig it out (You're attaching too many clauses here), be that person be (Your original is correct -- there should be a be) your closest siblings, parent or your lovely niece, how would you react? Enraged? or you'd just shrug your anger off as if nothing had happened?

3. Is 'I would' a better choice based on the sequence of the sentence?

Which sentence?

4. Can i use the expressions 'syrupy' to replace 'sweet' in that sentense?

The adjs. in the sentence are a bit of an overkill.
Dear Julie,

Thanks for your reply.

The #3 refer to the following

Come to think of it, if you caught someone stealing a look at your journal you were so carefully kept out of everyone's sight that probably only you know where to dig it out, be that person your closest siblings, parent or your lovely niece, how would you react? Enraged? or you'd just shrug your anger off as if nothing had happened? Logically, one would get mad, and i mean really really mad! Well, at least, that was me.

I suggested 'That was me' to 'I would', based on the sentence.
