Weather: Mostly cloudy sky, shower

Today is Friday, with the Memorial Day coming on next Monday this will be a long weekend. Memorial Day is a day to remember those who gave their lives to US. A radio program, On Point, called people to talk how they remember their lost love ones. People around the States called. They talk about their sons, friends, brothers and sisters. Listening to those sad stories, there is only one feeling I have: US should withdraw the military from Iraq now. But from a political view withdraw isn’t a good ideal. I believe the only way Bush can do sent more troops to sort out the problem in Iraq. But when can it be solved is big question.

As the Holiday coming, while some of American families going to cemeteries most of American families are planning to hit on the road despite the high oil price. According the West NY AAA office’s speculation, there will be 1% more mobile traveling in the coming weekend than last Memorial Day. Actually American is adapting to the gas price. I remember last year when the gas price in West NY reached $ 1.5, people complained. Now if there was a gas station selling gas at $1.5, people would line up and thank God. Have you heard that high gas price has disparated impact on oil companies and others companies? High gas price stimulates more oil consumption, resulting in oil companies got high profits. But to others companies high gas price raise raw material cost and low their profits.

That is interesting. I am not an economist and that has been out of my interest. But I think short of energy resource is big problem and it needs everyone to take actions now to reduce our consumptive speed. Otherwise one day we will run out fossil fuel before we find new reliable energy resource.

When the holiday comes, some American families will be going to cemeteries while most American families will be hitting the road, despite the high oil prices. According to the AAA office in western New York , there may be 1% more traveling in the coming weekend than during last year's Memorial Day weekend. Actually, Americans are adapting to higher gas prices. I remember last year when the price of a gallon of gas in western New York reached $ 1.50, people complained. Now, if there were a gas station selling gas at $1.50, people would line up and thank God. Have you heard that high gas prices has disparated (?) impact on oil companies and other companies? High gas prices stimulate more oil consumption, resulting in oil companies increasing profits. But to other companies, high gas prices raise the cost of raw material and lower their profits.

That is interesting. I am not an economist, but I think a drain on our energy resources is a big problem. To reduce the rate of our consumption, it will require everyone to take action now. Otherwise, we will run out of fossil fuels before we find new and reliable energy resources.
Thank you very much, Davkett! You help me a lot!
