zazzexDo you think this is wrong?

I have never seen such a beautiful doll of his.

To my ear it's a "borderline" case. It's understandable, but it's not really correct. It seems to be trying to say this:

I have never seen such a beautiful doll as his.

But I think the meaning you are aiming at is this:

Of all his dolls, I have never seen such a beautiful one as this (one).

The correct word in this context is characteristic, so let's change it to that. Here's what you need:

I have two characteristics. First, I am kind. This characteristic (of mine) is on my good side. Second, I get angry easily. This characteristic (of mine) is on my bad side.

The parentheses show that you can leave out "of mine" in both cases; it is easily understood from the rest of what you wrote.

I think the problem you're having in this thread is that you are trying to combine a general idea (such, such a) with a specific idea (mine, this one), and the two don't go together; they contradict one another.

such a book ~ any book that is like this one; it doesn't matter which book, provided it is like this one

my book, this book of mine ~ this specific book that belongs to me, and no other book

It doesn't make sense to try to reference any book and this book at the same time. It can't be both.

Here are the expressions you want:

such a personality as mine; a personality such as mine; a personality like mine
another of my weaknesses; another weakness of mine

Thanks for good answers.

I get that "such a personality as mine" means someone else's personality similar to mine.

However, I originally meant such personality of mine, which refers to my personality being such way or being that way.

In this case, "my such personality", "such my personality" and "such personality of mine" are all correct?

How do you express such a characteristic of mine ? Is this expression good as opposed to "my such characteristic"?

Thanks again.

No, those are not correct. I don't quite understand what you mean about your personality being like this or like that. Maybe you could write a whole sentence or two showing how you want to use it in a sentence.

Again, this (underlined) expression is not correct. It seems that you want to put three determiners on the same noun (such, my, a), and the English language can't handle it! Please explain in different words what idea you are trying to express and give an example or two of how you want to use that idea in a sentence.

You may have to resort to a very different way of saying it, for example,

This is one of my characteristics.
This is what my personality is like.

Thansk for the good answer. I get it now.

but, what about this case?

" I have two characters. First, I have a kind character. Such a character of mine is a good side of me.

Second, I have an easily-get-angry chacter. Such a character of mine is a bad side of me. "

I thought "such a" book meant to be specific, not general.

"This explanation of yours clears all."

my book, this book of mine ~ this specific book that belongs to me, and no other book

I finally understood. You are the Man!
