Many of us have various family functions and gatherings we attend. We see family members that we have not seen in years. Often there are new members that are in the family, such as babies or new husbands; and sometimes there are people missing. No matter what, there are always a select group of individuals that we know will be there every year doing the same things. Every family event has four different family members that stand out. No matter who they are or where they come from, there are always these types of people at every family event. There is the drunken cousin, who always wants alcohol and basically passes out before the function even starts. There is the family nerd, the boy who stands in the corner at every event not talking to anyone. There is the rich uncle, who has the most money in the family and is not afraid to let everyone know it. Last but not least, there are the trouble makers that are always ready to start trouble and drama amongst the family. Family gatherings are suppose to be events that bring the family closer together, but the drunken cousin, the family nerd, the rich uncle and the trouble makers are the ones always ruining the family events.

At every family gathering, there is a cousin that is always drunk. This cousin will be the one trying to get alcohol from everyone at the gathering. This reminds me of my cousin Jeremy. He usually brings alcohol to the gathering, but when the alcohol is gone, which is at the beginning of the event, he starts to beg. He loves the attention and tries to kiss on everyone that passes his way. He is always asking to borrow money from me to go to the store. He hunts for my uncle’s car all the time to go get him a twelve pack of beer or two at the corner store nearby. When he asks my uncle for his car, everyone automatically knows what he is asking for. Do not ever try and take his alcohol away from him, because he will get highly upset and may want to fight. Also, he is always trying to talk to someone in the family. He tried to talk to our cousin Samantha and everyone was telling him they were cousins, but he did not care because he was so drunk. He is the one that ruins the family event and makes everyone tired and ready to go home.

The family nerd is very common in families. The family nerd is the member of the family that prefers being alone at the event. My cousin Steve is the family nerd in our family. Steve does not socialize with the other teenagers at the event. Every year he brings his book sack with all his books in it to study. When he is not studying, he would rather play games all day long. Even when his mother tries to talk to him, he looks at her like please get out of my face. The other teenagers just get upset because he does not ever want them to play with him.

There is always a rich uncle at every family event. These are the ones that show up to the gathering driving a BMW and parking it where it can be shown off. My uncle Willie is the rich one in my family. When holding a conversation with my uncle Willie, all he talks about is money and what he has accomplished over the years. He brags about the big house and fancy cars he has brought. He offers everyone money; knowing he will be turned down, all just to show how much money he has in his pockets. Other family members get real frustrated with him, because he keeps going on and on about his accomplishments. After he shows up, everyone is bored to death hearing his mouth all day.

Then there are the trouble makers. The trouble makers are the ones who always want to fight at the family events. It does not matter if they are sisters, brothers, uncles, aunts or cousins. My four cousins are the trouble makers in our family. They are Cody, Damien, Danzel and Kaylon. They are always fighting over stupid things such as board games, dice, money and alcohol. When they play dice for money, whoever wins always gets hit after the game. Everyone tries to break them up, but they continue acting the same way. They also go around starting drama with other family members just to rouse up the family. They are the wild family members, in the backyard, playing music and cursing trying to make a scene.

Family gatherings are always fun to go to. We hope and pray the day the family is reunited, it is not a complete disaster. Many people do not even second guess that it will turn out to be fine, because they know the type of family members that will be there. The drunken cousin, the family nerd, the rich uncle and the trouble makers all test to see if the family can go a day without killing each other.

Without commenting on the truth of your stereotypes, I have put blue highlights on things I think can be better and pink highlights on things that are wrong. Usually we have a "five paragraph essay" with an into, three supporting paragraphs, and a conclusion. I suggest you stick to three types of people who make family gatherings annoying and drop one of them. (I'd drop the nerd. What hard does he cause, really?) I also would not generalize to say that all familes have all of these types of people. There is often someone who... In my family, we have all three/four.

I really liked the first few sentences, and your concluding paragraph.

Okay, I said I wouldn't comment on the content, but how is the quiet guy in the corner ruining things for everyone else? Everyone else is singular. Why did you make "trouble makers" plural? It doesn't fit with the "four people" you've set up. Make this singular throughout.

I've never met a teen who was upset that one persond didn't want to "play."

There is always a rich uncle at every family event. These are the ones that show up to the gathering driving a BMW and parking it where it can be shown off. My uncle Willie is the rich one in my family. When holding a conversation with my uncle Willie, technically this is a gangling modifier but it's common enough that it won't cause confusion. Converstaions with my uncle Willie are only about... all he talks about is money and what he has accomplished over the years. He brags about the big house and fancy cars he has brought. He offers everyone money; knowing he will be turned down, all just to show how much money he has in his pockets.
