Hi Teachers,

Could you correct this paragraph that I wrote?

Julia and her boyfriend Cliff went to a film a few days ago. They missed the beginning because they arrived at the cinema about ten minutes late, and they didn’t see the end because the special effects were so bad and a couple of actors acted so badly that they walked out in the middle of it.

Thanks a lot in advance

It looks fine.

I'd use the emphatic so on both sos and add a comma.

... were so bad, and a couple ... so badly that ...

Or, on neither.

... were so bad, and a couple ... so badly that ...

Hi Jim,

Thank you for your suggestion. In fact, in my manuscript both of them are like that. Sorry I forgot to do it on the second one, eagle eye!Emotion: wink

Out of Question

In one of my manuscripts I have used a story, among many exercises and explanations done by me, from a book called 'Access to English, Starting Out'. The thing is that this book was published by Oxford University Press in 1975 and they have stopped selling it about 20 years ago. I've seen on the net free downloads of this book. My question is, if I can put the story for classes on line. Though I have change many dialogues and circunstances about the story: character names and places. If not, where should I address myself to ask for pemission for it?

Could you help me in this matter?

Thank you very much

Sorry. I don't know anything about the legal implications of this sort of thing. I imagine you would have to get permission from Oxford University Press, but you'd have to research it to find the appropriate person and address. I'm here in California, and Oxford is quite a long distance from me, so I have no connections!
