Please ignore the sexist remark and focus on the grammar.

Women are the stupidest things on earth [next to/other than] cows.

Is there any difference between next to and other than in this context?

Also is the superlative for stupid correct? the most stupid or the stupidest?

Thanks!

Remarks made are difficult to ignore.

(can't do it)

Other than = besides = except, means there's only one exception to the statement

Next to means "in the next position on the list to" (on the "less than" side)

Either superlative is acceptable. "That's the stupidest thing I ever heard!" -Bill Gates

I'm sorry for the sexist remark. Just so you know, it's not my sentence. I picked it up from a show.
