The photo album is a mixture of love, beauty and great times! I was laughing so hard at the photos and it brought me back to that night of matrimony. What a wondrous occasion that night had been and I'm very grateful to be a part of it all!

Can the past perfect tense be used here? How does it describe an event before another past event?

Thanks!

Can the past perfect tense be used here? Yes
How does it describe an event before another past event? It doesn't. It just describes an some event that was competed in the past. The past could have been used, but the past perfect fives the idea of finality.

What do you mean by fives?

So even though the sentence is grammatically incorrect, it's still okay as long as it fits? I really don't get it. I thought the past perfect can only be used for when an event occurred before another past event.

Please explain. Thank you.!

No, it is a very common use of the past perfect, but not the only one. It can also used instead of simple past, to emphasize completion. The sentence is grammatically correct.
