Hi, teachers.

I want to know whether of year is equal to yearly all the time:

I love this time of year.

Thank you in advance. Please.

No, not at all. 'Yearly' means annually. 'Of year' modifies 'time': this time of year, this time of day.
Mister MicawberNo, not at all. 'Yearly' means annually. 'Of year' modifies 'time': this time of year, this time of day.

So what's the meaning of of year? Micawber, could you kindly tell me about it?
Students: Are you brave enough to let our tutors analyse your pronunciation?
In Arabic 'of year' means من السنة
I love this time of year: أحب هذا الوقت من السنة
From year to year, this portion of the year is a portion that I like.

For example, I like it when the leaves change color. They reach their most colorful peak around mid-October. So in mid-October, I can say "I love this time of year."

I also love seeing all the flowers starting to bloom. In mid-May, when things are bursting into bloom all over, I can say "I love this time of year."

Did you mean of year = from year to year in a way, dear Grammar Geek?

No.

When you have a cake, what part do you like? Do you like the corner, with more frosting? Do you like the part with the flowers? Or do you like pieces from the middle, because you don't really like the frosting?

I'm asking you "What part of the cake is your favorite?"

Do you understand how "of the cake" is used here? It's the same for "time of the year."
Grammar Geek, to my ear, of year is different from of the year, for example:

the first day of the year__________the first day all year through________the first day during a particular year

But of year sounds the same for of importance/of great talent/of distinction.

Do you think so?

By the way, I still don't know the meaning of the expression of year. I'm so sorry.Thank you all the same.

If only you were kind enough to go on to help me with it!

Wow, I don't really know the beautiful language.

A pity.
