Hello Yong

Not needed but not incorrect , either.
My mother came to my house yesterday the 12th December
My mother came to my house yesterday, December the 12th.
My mother came to my house yesterday, December 8, 2006.

would be my choices.

I don't think "on" works too well in the presence of "today/yesterday."

Should you use "on," it should, IMO, precede "yesterday/tomorow":

Mer21Dec.html

The 20th Day of December, in the Year of Our Lord, 1860 ... On yesterday, the 20th of December, 1860, just before one o'clock, p.m., the ...

Hi Marius

My mother came to my house yesterday the 12th December
My mother came to my house
yesterday, December the 12th.
My mother came to my house yesterday, December 8, 2006.

My mother came to my house on December 8, 2006, yesterday.

Do you mean the sentence should be phrased as above if 'on' is used?

I believe in BrE, 'the' is not used with dates nowadays.

No, IMO:
My mother came to my house (on) yesterday, December 8, 2006.
I would not use on here, but I think others would.
Marius HancuNo, IMO:

I don't anyone good at English will write, "My mother came to my house on yesterday, December 8, 2006."

I'm very surprised. Thanks.

Could you please tell me in which BrE website can I find the following sentence There is a dog and two cats in his house or something similar to it.
I'd say that 'on yesterday' is always incorrect.

Just because you can find it a couple of times in google just means that the people who wrote it made an error. The internet is full of errors. I can't find the Beatles news quote there but the scout one was a quote from an American football player. It's possible that he was misquoted. Or it's possible that he made a mistake - native speakers do make mistakes - but it is still not correct.

When I googled 'on yesterday' it came up with lots of results where the 'on' was not connected to the 'yesterday' but to the word before 'on'. They were not saying 'on yesterday' in the sense of 'on Monday'.
