What does open round-trip ticket and open ended ticket mean?

I heard someone use these words when reserving tickets.

open round-trip ticket I think this means you don't have to decide on your return date at the time you buy the ticket.

open ended ticket I think this means the same thing. Otherwise, if you are not flying again, why would you need an 'open end'.

I'm not sure about this, as I find airline plocies hard to understand. i suggest you google these terms and see what you find. I did, and I found this:

Open end or open return tickets are the most expensive of all tickets.
Airlines rarely-if ever discount open return tickets and rarely-if ever include them in an online database for internet booking.

Good luck, Clive
