Is this paragraph correct:

"We went out to explore the locality.

Up to one point, we came across a castle in ruins.

As we passed by the rearguard, we stooped and stayed looking at that structure."

rearguard: the part of an army that is responsible for preventing it from being attacked from behind

Are you talking about a structure that's part of the castle?

moat, battlements, keep, bailey, tower, drawbridge?

Christine Christie"We went out to explore the locality.

OK.

Christine ChristieUp to one point, we came across a castle in ruins.

"Up to one point" is wrong. You mean "at one point", maybe. Also, I don't like "castle in ruins". You came across the ruins of a castle.

Christine ChristieAs we passed by the rearguard, we stooped and stayed looking at that structure."

I don't know what you mean by "rearguard". You made a typo for "stopped", no doubt. "Stayed looking" is not natural. "That structure" is odd. Maybe "we stopped and looked at it awhile".
