Hi guys!

I did this test http://www.englisch-hilfen.de/en/complex_tests/passive1/index.php just now. I made a few mistakes:

A) Rewrite the sentences in Passive voice.

4) The teacher closes the window.
My answer: The window is closed by the teacher.
Correct Answer: The window is closed.
5) My friend bought a new car.
My answer: A new car was bought by my friend
Correct Answer: A new car was bought.

Can someone tell me why my answers are incorrect?

I'm looking forward to hearing from you!

The difference between your answers and your teacher's lies in leaving out the doer of the action.

Some grammar books prescribe that in the passive voice, the doer of the action can be left out. Your teacher must have marked your answers wrong based on what is stated by grammarians.

As I think ur answers are more appropriate than the correct answers which u mentioned. Cuz u r mentioning the doer of the action which is making the sentence more meaningful. So, don't worry, ur answers are also right.

But that doesn't mean that the answers which u have marked as correct are wrong.

So both the answers r correct.

Also, please note that you are appending a post to a thread which has been inactive for more than seven years. Quite often those who participated in a thread have moved on in that amount of time and are no longer here to respond to your post, so you are mostly talking to the air when you reply to very old threads.
