It depends on whether you want the American or British spelling.

Students: Are you brave enough to let our tutors analyse your pronunciation?

What language is it? English! If the English spell it "pedalling" I would think it's correct. Just because Americans choose not to spell lots of words properly does not make it right.

Sorry, just showing my sense of humor!!! Or should it be humour?

Consider: More people speak American English than speak all other varieties of English (British, Irish, Australian, Indian, South African, Singaporean, etc.) combined.

Consider: In France, students can choose to learn "English"or they can choose to learn "American". They don't even call the language of Americans "English". So not everyone in the world uses the blanket term "English" for all varieties of the language.

And a strange one it is.

I am Canada born, now living in the USA. So I may have a little different perspective.

I am not a linguist. But I think it is more correct with one 'L'. No reasons. Just 'I think'!! (one exclamation mark or two or more!)

Site Hint: Check out our list of pronunciation videos.

the answer is simple.

the double l in pedalling tells you that the preceding vowel is a short vowel, not a long vowel.
Like rap rapping vs rape raping, tap tapping vs tape taping.
