CalifJimshe may have a peep at the Pope
Pope-peeping! I love it!

When my Dad put me to bed at night he would say close your peepers now

Students: Are you brave enough to let our tutors analyse your pronunciation?

First off: Fantastic thread.

Now: My take (on peek vs peep):

Peep is...

Creepy? Well, at first impression, = yes. (American point of view)

but is it Technically? (educated ppl only allowed here) = No. (from American viewpoint anyway)

But since almost always associated with "peeping Tom" then I'd say yes, cultural association is valid. = creepy

HOWEVER "peep" is usually (American version) associated w/ sound. aka "squeak"

As in "I don't want to hear a peep out of you!" (assumed directed towards young children being put to bed, or timeout).

Peek is...

Definitely like peeking around a corner, or sneaking a "peek" at a gift.

P.S. I absolutely love this thread. I guess It's actually a "kind" of ppl who enjoy these conversations…
