Dear teachers,

What does "Pet Peeves" mean?

Thanks,

Hi,

A 'peeve' is a minor complaint or grievance. A pet peeve refers to some small problem that we actually enjoy, in a sense, complaining about.

eg One of my pet peeves is about weather forecasters who always make mistakes in the forecast.

Best wishes, Clive

Hi,

Nothing I'm aware of.

There are other similar usages, eg a pet name -- my pet name for my husband is "lambie-pie".

Best wishes, Clive
"Pet name" is cool, but I wonder what "lambie-pie" means. Does it have anything to do with lamb? I couldn't find "lambie" in the dictionary. Need your help and thanks.

Hi,

It's just a nonsense name, a made-up name. Such things are a way of showing affection for a small child or a spouse.
