Natural resources such as fresh water, oil and forests are disappearing from the Earth. Why is this happening? Is that dangerous? Suggest a solution for this problem. Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Some scientists warn us that we are running out of natural resources, and it will result in a bad impact on the existence of human beings. In the following paragraphs, I will enumerate reasons why it is occurring and why it is so serious, and then suggest two main ways to deal with the problem.

There are several causes of the lack of natural resources. First of all, it is because of the unawareness of the public on natural resources. In my country, South Korea, there is always a campaign during winter season to encourage people put on more clothes rather than use a heater in order to save the electricity. However, few people comply with the campaign. Moreover, it is due to irresponsible and unsustainable development. Especially in China, which is one of developing countries, they use lots of natural resources to build new buildings and factories for their development.

The lack of natural resources is concerned on human beings' live directly. For instance, if there would not be enough water to drink, we might be able to survive for a few days, but as a result, there will be no one who can survive without water. One of good methods to solve the problem is to follow good policies, such as the use of public transportation and separate garbage system to use less the energy. The other is that all governments should focus on the protection of the environment rather than the development, like planting trees.

Taking all that into consideration, everyone should be aware of the shortage of natural resources, and devise effective methods in a long term.

This is how I would write it in the UK.

Research warns us that we are running out of natural resources. This will result in a negative impact on the human race. In the following paragraphs, I will discuss possible reasons why this is occurring and why it is so serious, then suggest two main ways to deal with the problem.

In my opinion there are several causes for the loss of natural resources. Firstly, is because of the lack of awareness of the public on the subject.
In my country, South Korea, there is always a campaign during winter season to encourage people put on more clothes, rather than use a heater in order to save the electricity. However, few people comply with the campaign.

Secondly, irresponsible and unsustainable development has had a detrimental effect on the world's resources. Especially in China, which is one of the fastest developing countries, they use lots of natural resources to build new buildings and factories, without stopping to consider it's environmental impact.

The lack of natural resources has a direct impact on how we live.

For example, if there was not enough water to drink, we might be able to survive for a few days, but in the end, no-one who can survive without water.

To solve the problem we must follow good policies, such as the use of public transportation, separate garbage system and to use less energy. All governments should focus on the protection of the environment, like planting trees, rather than development without considering environmental impact.

Taking all that into consideration, everyone should be aware of the shortage of natural resources, and devise effective methods for their long term protection.

Overall, the ideas and construction of your essay is very good, "formal" English is a little different to "everyday" English, very well done.

A formal letter:

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing in connection with your advertisement for Proficiency Photography course in England that I found in the Daily Telegraph from 23rd March 2012.
I would like to ask about the program of this course and an/the opportunity to receive a certificate for its completion. Can you send it to me?
I am interested in the size of groups and some required experience. Do I have to possess any previous experience in taking photographs? Do you intend to check it ( I mean experience) somehow in practice? I prefer learning in small groups because then I believe will make some progress.
I would like to know more details about the number of hours of classes during a/the day and the total duration of the course. How often do the lessons take place? How long does the course last?
I am still not sure about two things: What is the price of this course? Where do the lessons take place?
I look forward to your answer.
Yours faithfully,

A postcard:

Hi Susan,
I'm spending my holidays in the mountains in Austria.
I'm climbing the mountains and visiting many interesting places.
The weather is sunny, sometimes it rains.
I am planning to stay here for 10 days.
I am going to return to Paris little relaxed. After my arrival we can go out and go to the next any good place.
How about your holidays? I hope you're having a great time, too.
See you soon,
