Some people think that physical strength is important for success in sport, while other people think that mental strength is more important. Discuss both views and give your own opinion

Sports are becoming increasingly popular among people of all ages, and people have different views about how to achieve success in sport. While many people believe that physical strength plays a vital part in achieving success in sport, others think that mental strength is more crucial. Personnally, I agree with the former idea.


On the one hand, it is understandable why many people consider mental power is crucial in sports. Firsly, mental strength provides sports players with motivation, which would boost their powers to perform better in games. For example, football players who lack motivation may not train hard in the gym, as a consequence, their body is not in good shape, and they cannot play well. Secondly, since failures and disappointments are inevitable in sports, mentally strong help people overcome these easier. This helps them quickly recover and return to practicing, prepare for the next games.


However, I contend that physical strength have a more integral role to play to success in sports. The primary reason is that physical power is fundamental for the acceptable performance in sports, which is because sports, including football and running, require stamina and redurance. For example, If a football player has a poor physicality, he cannot run fast, and quickly experience exhausted. Furthermore, some sports stars take drugs to enhance their physical strength. This seem to demonstrate the importance of physical power, since sports stars need it to play well in matches.


In conclusion, although many people think becoming success in sports is mainly due to mental strength, I believe this is affected by physical strength, as it is the basis of successful sports players.
