At the present time, the population of some countries includes a relatively large number of young adults, compared with the number of older people.

Do the advantages of this situation outweigh the disadvantages?

A few countries have relatively more young people than older ones. In my opinion, this brings more benefits to the countries as compared to any drawbacks this might bring.

Admittedly, there are some drawbacks of having more young population. One problem with this is most adults lack experience and do not know how to handle things practically. It is because they might have theoretical knowledge, but do not have hands-on experience of dealing with things. Another issue can be impulsive decision making. In other words, they usually make haphazard decisions without taking into account relevant consequences. The stock market of Argentina, for instance, declined by 50% in 2018 alone. It was found that majority of investors were below the age of 40 years, and most of them were first-time investors. However, before making any crucial decision, the youth of today discuss it with their elder relatives.

Conversely, the primary advantages for countries, which have comparatively less older population are better economy and large foreign investments. That is to say that these countries grow economically since more adults lead to higher consumerism that is essential for the growth. In addition, large foreign in-flows are diverted into these countries as most multinational companies expand businesses by investing heavily. This does not only generate more employment opportunities, but also increase the image of country. Amazon, the largest retailer of the USA, for example, invested USD 5 billion in India, the second most populous country of the world, in 2013. In that year, the economy of India grew by 6% along with the decline in unemployment.

In conclusion, growth in economy and enormous foreign investments are the main advantages for countries having more youth which greatly outweigh its disadvantages.
