Wild animals have no place in the 21st century, so protecting them is a waste of resources. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Some people argue that it makes no sense to waste money to conserve wild animals as these animals have almost nothing to contribute to human beings. I completely disagree with this view.

On the one hand, it is wrong to say wild animals have no place in the 21st century. There are still plenty of rooms that are not suitable for people to live in while those places are animal’ paradises. And we do not have the right to destroy their habitat for our purposes like providing accommodation to the population or trade wood for profits. If we protect their natural habitat as a way to conserve wild animals, they can create a better environment for us. For example, rainforests produce oxygen, absorb carbon dioxide and stabilize the earth’s climate. So creating more rooms for us to exist side by side with wild animals can benefit all of us.

In addition, I strongly disagree with the idea that it is a waste of money to spend on protecting these animals. Wild animals are paramount of importance to the ecosystem. If they become extinct, it would break the ecological balance and its consequences become catastrophic than people may think. To illustrate, killing of carnivores leads to an increase in the number of herbivores which in turn affects the forest vegetation and they can destroy our crops for finding food resources, thus this can lead to food shortages of human beings. As a result, by protecting wild animals, we maintain the natural balance of all life on earth.

In conclusion, we as humans should make every possible effort to protect wild animals at every cost because they can create a comfortable environment and maintain all life on planet.
