In recent years, youth crime is on the rise. From my perspective, I believe this might be ascribed to the impact of irresponsible parents along with bullying at schools and the viable approach to tackle this problem is for parents to pay more attention to their children and teachers to guide their students into constructive activities such as sports.

To start with, parental ignorance can be the major cause of increasing juvenile offenders. Since the world of work has become increasingly stressful, today workers are under considerable pressure of heavy workload. As a result, they spend limited time taking care of their children. Besides, young people are susceptible to illegal activities such as using drugs. Hence, without the supervision of parents, they are likely to embark on criminal life. Furthermore, bullying at schools is another explanation for this issue. Recent research concluded that young people being abused at school often display antisocial behaviours and this is the main precursor of their criminal motivation.

Fortunately, however, there are two promising solutions to this problem. First of all, parents should take more time with their children. With the attention of parents, young people can be steered clear of criminal activities. For example, nowadays, more Vietnamese people send their offsprings to American schools. As a result, due to a lack of supervision of parents, many of these young people engage in illegal activities. Second, educators and teachers should encourage their students to participate in constructive activities such as sports. By implementing this, students would establish positive behaviour as it can reduce the stress level of students, which can help to reduce bullying at schools.

In conclusion, the increase in juvenile crime rate might be attributed to the indifference of parents and bullying at schools. I recommend that parents and teachers can address this problem by paying more attention to children and guiding students into activities such as sports.
