Topic: Some people claim that public museums and art galleries will not be needed because people can see historical objects and works of art by using a computer. Do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

My essay:

Public museums and art exhibition areas become unnecessary to visit and see historical and art objects because of the appearance of computers. While I accept that this point of view is reasonable to some degree, I still contend that people should watch these things directly.

On the one hand, it is understandable why public museums and art exhibits would be abandoned. Because of the development of technology, there are many new modern devices such as smartphone, computers. They are extremely convenient and easily accessible to information around the world as well as images of all things displayed in museums and galleries thanks to the internet. Having a computer is an essential thing to satisfy people’s curious demand for antiques and art. Therefore, more and more people choose to see them in their house, instead of visiting museums and art exhibition places.

On the other hand, apart from the obvious benefits of staying at people's own houses and seeing ancient items mentioned above, I still claim that getting a voyage to museum or gallery can provide a greater sense of fulfillment for viewers. First, seeing these objects directly are realistic and actual, because the color, size and appearance are intensely different between seeing from the screen and real objects. Second, people will have the feeling of curiosity and eagerness, when they are waiting for the next things shown in museums and galleries. Finally, they gain more happiness with friends who go together with them, instead of staying at home in order to see alone.

In conclusion, while using the computer is a great way to access information about works of art and prehistoric objects, I still think that visiting museums and galleries outweighs this approach.

Hello Huy Lâm;

Did you read the instructions for this essay?

Did you read the prompt?

Here is the prompt:

Do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

There are two possible answers to this prompt:

1. I agree.
2. I disagree.

If you agree, then write two body paragraphs supporting this opinion. Put one reason in each paragraph.

If you disagree, then write two body paragraphs that give reasons for your disagreement.

The prompt is not this one. That is a different type of essay.

Discuss both views and give your opinion.

For this essay, do not give reasons in favor of both sides. That is not the correct response. The transitions "on the one hand/on the other hand" are the wrong response for this type of essay.

Here is a lesson on how to write agree/disagree essays:

Here is an essay that follows your essay, but has the best "task response" for this topic. I give you detailed comments in the next post.

There are some who say that art museums and history museums should be closed to the public. since people can see pictures of the objects online. I disagree because seeing these objects directly in person is a far richer experience.

First, going to a museum or gallery can provide a great sense of fulfillment for viewers. Seeing these objects directly is a realistic and actual encounter, because the color, size and appearance are intensely different from seeing them on a small screen. When I was in grade eight, my history class took a field trip to the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of History. This museum helped us appreciate the ancient traditions and incredible artists of the past, in particular the bronze Đông Sơn drums from two thousand years ago. If this museum closed, the children of the next generation would be deprived of such a wonderful educational experience.

Second, people will have the feeling of curiosity and eagerness, when they are waiting for the next things to come to the art museums. The Hanoi Fine Art Museum holds exhibitions from many other countries. Vietnamese people especially are fond of French art, because of our past history with France. We enjoy going to the exhibits and observing these famous paintings in person, talking about them with friends. They are a great attraction for tourists, too.

In conclusion, while using the computer is a great way to access information about works of art and prehistoric objects, I still think that visiting museums and galleries is a thousand times better.

Public museums and art exhibition areas become unnecessary to visit and see historical and art objects because of the appearance of computers. (That is not a good paraphrase.)

Here is a paraphrase:

There are some who say that museums, in particular art museums and history museums, should be closed to the public. If people are interested in looking at the precious art objects and historical artifacts, they can see pictures of them online.

While I accept that this point of view is reasonable to some degree, I still contend that people should watch these things directly.

Your next sentence should answer the question: Do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

While I accept that this point of view is reasonable to some degree, I disagree because seeing these objects directly in person is a far better experience. These institutions need to remain open for everyone to visit.

The next paragraph does not support your opinion. It argues against your own opinion. That is very bad for your band score. You need to state your opinion and tell the reader why you chose that view.

"On the one hand" is for "discuss both views" essays. Do not use it for "Agree/disagree" essays.

Do not mention the opposing view. Tell the reader why you think that it would be very wrong to close museums.
