Task 1

You are attending a night course in the school. you are not happy with some parts of the course. Write a letter to the school director about this.

In your letter, you should tell:

  • what course you are studying
  • what things you are not happy about
  • what you expect from the school director.

Dear Mr Henry

I am currently participating in a night course of University of Technology, Australia. It has been four months and I had some issues about which I hope you as a school director should have some measurements.

I am a student of engineering faculty and my major is electrical engineer. My curriculum requires me to apply the theory in practical experiment in order to fully understand the terminologies.

However, our school has extremely strict schedule for the lab so that it takes time before becoming accessible to me. Given that I can not complete my home assignment without the equipment and the labs only open until 5:00pm, I have to ask my professor for extension of time before turning in my works twice this month.

I hope after being aware of the situation, student could be permitted to use the lab late at night with proper access control system and security. I believe it can mitigate the problem.

Looking forward to hearing your response soon

Yours respectfully,

Brian.

Dear Mr Henry

I am currently participating in a night course (That is too vague. A university may offer hundreds of courses. The instructions say "tell the director what course you are taking". That means a course name and number, for example, "Electrical Engineering 1102 Digital Electronics, Laboratory Section B" ) of University of Technology, Australia. (The director knows the name of the university he is working for, doesn't he? ) It has been four months and I had (wrong verb tense) some issues about which I hope you as a school director should have some measurements. (wrong word)

I am a student of in the faculty of engineering faculty and my major is electrical engineer. (wrong word) My curriculum requires me to apply the theory in practical experiment in order to fully understand the terminologies. (That is irrelevant and extraneous. It has nothing to do with a problem you have in the course.)

However, our school has extremely strict schedule for the lab so that it takes time before becoming accessible to me. (That makes no sense. Please write your situation more clearly.) Given that I can not complete my home assignment without the equipment and the labs are only open until 5:00pm, (I do not understand. You are enrolled in a night course. Being closed after 5 pm is not a possible option for a scheduled "night course.") I have (wrong verb tense) to ask my professor for an extension of time before turning in my works (wrong word) twice this month.

I hope after being aware of the situation, student (wrong form) could be permitted to use the lab late at night with proper access control system and security. I believe it can mitigate the problem.

Looking forward to hearing your response soon

Yours respectfully,

Binh Le 1863You are attending a night course in the school.

School is not always used as another way of saying the word university in general. It varies in different kinds of English.

Binh Le 1863Dear Mr Henry

Mr, Mrs and Miss are not normally used with just a first name. You could use them with a full name or a surname.
