I am writing to apply for a post graduate program in food science and nutrition.

I think one of my most distinguishing characteristics is the diversity of experiences I possess. I am a food technologist who worked as a quality controller in a food industry, Social mobilizer who has established a co-opearative food processing unit (Archana food product) and as a teacher who teaches various subjects (Human Nutrition, Meat technology, Biochemistry, Food microbiology and Food Processing). All these elements have given me a very broad outlook, with varying degrees of knowledge in a range of topics. I strongly believe that, all these qualities will influence my future steps.

After completion of my Bachelor degree in food technology, I joined Country Farm House (C.F.H.) a meat processing industries as a quality controller and promoted to Assistant manager within three months. I have learned about analytical thinking, Supply chain, inventory control, and practical aspects of food processing.

Born in a poor farmer family I have always keenness towards the problems of farmers. The farmers of Sarlahi district of one of the largest producers of tomatoes in was facing problems in marketing. They have to struggle even to get a value equal to the input, while whole family was involved in it. I leave C.F.H. and went to Sarlahi, gather farmers formed a Shelf Help Group (S.H.G) and later registered as a co-operative. Within four months we were able to establish a tomato processing unit named Archana food products and some zero energy cold storage units. This not only increased the value addition but also increased the employment opportunities in that area.

After two years working there I realized that my education was not adequate. During that time I was quite popular for my new concept of S.H.G which I also have implemented successfully. Luckly, Central Campus of Technology award me a scholarship for studying M.tech (food) and also offered me a job as a teaching assistant. From four years I am teaching various subjects and have also been regularly involved in research and extension projects through financial assistance by C.C.T. and as a collaborator with other stakeholders. After completion of M.tech the board meeting of selects me an advisor of the Mayor in food safety which I am working till now. I conduct several training in food safety issues by funding and collaboration with , C.C.T., Government livestock training center and Department of Food Technology and Quality control.

As a result of these experiences, I got deeper insight of the severity of Nutritional problems the under privilege society were facing. More than 50 thousand children below 5 years of age die every year in , of which 60% death is caused by malnutrition alone. To add in this every day 135 children under 5 years of age die in and 1 children die in every 10 minute. It has been reported that 54% of children under 5 years of age are suffering from protein energy malnutrition. The main constraints to develop nutritional status are low literacy, poverty, cultural beliefs, lack of trained manpower, poor media promotion, limited resources and moist conflict.

In the year 2005, NUFFIC have awarded me a fellowship to attained a training program “Food industry and Agribusiness” from Sep. 17 to . From the program I learned to design projects, analyze problems and increased my knowledge on risk analysis, food toxicology, food safety and quality assurance. After returning, I have disseminated the knowledge through various seminars and workshops.

still lacks higher studies in Nutritional sciences. C.C.T. developed a course for master degree in Food and Nutritional science which is also approved by the subject committee of the institute. However due to insufficient funding facilities, it is still unable to start the program. For motivation the Institute decides to give a study leave up to two years for all its faculty members who wish to study in Nutritional science. This is a good opportunity for me to strengthen my carrier and to anticipate and react to ever-changing environments. I was in touch with Prof. xxxx and Prof. xxx during completion of my master degree thesis. These respected professors helped me by providing me valuable literatures. From them I know about ICPFSN of xxx University. I have learned that is known for its high academic standards, the faculty's reputation for excellent teaching, challenging coursework and the excellent facilities are added attractions. The programme also offers a wide range of subjects and electives, which will let me broaden my interests in Nutritional science. To study this course I have also applied to xxx (for funding) and the application is in process and will be declared at the end of this month. I don’t want to take any chance to loose this opportunity so I am also applying here.

After pursuing this course I could support the institute to start the foresaid new course and also disseminate the new concept to the faculty members and existing students in B.tech and M.Tech. (Food). The government and INGO’s have allocated a large amount of fund for nutritional programs but due to the lack of trained manpower and the enthusiasum to work in the field level, the fund ended with no result. Having experience from the field level to an academic level and with an advanced knowledge that I would gain from this course, I could develop educational and training programs on site for food producers and consumers in the principles of food security, sustainable agriculture, biodiversity, food safety and nutritional sciences in collaboration with different stakeholders. Moreover, the integrated approach from the knowledge that I have on food technology, agribusiness development, and various experiences and from this course, will help to develop the nutritional status and socioeconomic status of my country.
I have know this man (Mr. Achyut) personally for a couple of decades.

In my opinion, statements he has written in this article may be questionable.

Mod says; This post has been severely edited due to the poster's failure to provide any material to support his criticism.

Kindly help in reviewing this letter of motivatiob

Admissions Committee,

Dear Sirs/Madams

The concept of sustainability is one which is being embraced all over the world by industries and organizations. Industries have developed the very penchant to design and develop products and systems which are sustainable and ecologically friendly. This is why I, xxxxxxxx, a 23 year old Nigerian graduate of Mechanical Engineering would like to take part in the academic Masters’ of science programme in Sustainable Product Creation at the University of xxxxxx in order to pursue my interests in the field.

The five year undergraduate program in Mechanical engineering formed the basis of my perseverance towards achieving an in-depth knowledge in the field of Sustainable production engineering and Green production. As a part of my degree course I studied various subjects relating to diverse aspects of sustainable production and manufacturing which includes machine design, production engineering, manufacturing processes, engineering graphics, Computer aided manufacture among others.

During my bachelor studies, I underwent the experience of developing an energy efficient domestic refrigerator using Titanium (IV) oxide nanoparticles by mixing it with the compressor oils in order to increase the heat transfer Coefficient of the refrigerant(liquefied Petroleum Gas) with the overall aim of reducing power consumption and emphasizing on the use of hydrocarbons and natural refrigerants as retrofit options to chlorofluorocarbons (CFC’s) and other conventional refrigerants due to their close to zero global warming potential and low ozone depletion potential. While submitting the assignment, my supervisor observed the uniqueness and importance of my work and recommended that the project be published in a world class high rank journal (Elsevier).

Upon receiving this acknowledgment of my work I would like to carry on my desire in the design and production of efficient and sustainable products and systems that would not only stand the test of time but also consider the environment in its use, as this is gaining increasing importance in all aspects and is having significant impact on almost all industries and all areas of society. There is an ample scope to prove one’s ability, competence and intelligence in this revolutionary and potentially very beneficial concept of Sustainability.

Besides the University academics I was actively involved in the extra-curricular activities. The driving force behind all this was my aim to develop all the facets of my personality. In this process I could not achieve the grades I wanted to, in the first and second year. But soon I garnered the skill of judicious allocation of time and energy. I do not feel that the marks I scored are the sole indicators of my understanding of the subject. A cogent reason to augment my belief is the final year of my studies, where with strong focus and hard work, I excelled in my graduation with distinctions in most of my core courses such as production engineering, machine design among others.

I have worked as an industrial trainee in a multinational global company (xxxxxxx) into metal and plastic packaging and the concept of sustainability was highly emphasized during my time there, as considerable effort and resources were allocated to the sustainable design and production of their products. My work has helped me develop a thorough insight into sustainable production to and return to the academic world for further growth. It has given me confidence to pursue a Master’s degree and also kindled a desire to do research. This career with open prospects has given me constant incentive to improve myself and to gain more knowledge.

Today I perceive that life for me has been a process of conscious evolution. An integral part of this growth has been the value system imbibed in me by my parents, teachers and mentors and an immense liking for science and engineering technology. As I embark upon a new stage of my life, I believe that a postgraduate study will provide a milestone in my career along with invaluable experiences that will allow me to become a successful, innovative professional and assist in accomplishing my goals. Ten years from now, I envisage myself as a full-fledged research professional or consultant Engineer in an organization.

My decision to pursue graduate studies in Luxembourg is underscored by my desire to be a part of the graduate program at your institution. The pioneering works going on at the Faculty of Science, Technology and Communication in the areas of product creation processes have been phenomenal. The interdisciplinary nature of the Sustainable product creation program has convinced me in taking this decision as it is the ideal choice for an exciting research career. At the same time, I am confident of contributing originally to the ongoing work at your department. By working under the guidance of distinguished faculty, I shall certainly be able to exploit my potential to the fullest.

I discovered this truly exciting program on the university website which led me to the departmental web site which also revealed the very strong faculty like Professorxxxxxxr involved in extensive research in the area of Engineering sciences, Sustainability Manufacturing among others. This has strengthened my resolve to study at University of xxxxxx. I am confident that the erudite faculty will make my learning experience extraordinary. If I get the opportunity to be a part of that intellectually stimulating environment, I am sure my talents will be put to optimal use.

I am confident that the overall opportunity to study in Europe will broaden my horizons and give me an opportunity to gain world class education and help me become an excellent world citizen.

I would therefore, feel obliged to be able to secure admission in your prestigious university and pursue my M.S. program. I am sure that I will match all the credentials and will be able to maintain high standards at your university.

With regards,
