Hi teachers! Can anyone help me with the proper usage of prepositions here?

Don't sleep on the couch, you should try lying in my bed.

Don't sleep on the couch, you should try lying on my bed.

Which one here is correct? I see a lot of people using the preposition in. However, I still doubt that. Shouldnt it be on?

Lying in my bed means lying under the covers; lying on my bed means lying on top of the covers.

Note also that the above is a comma splice error. You should use a full stop (period) instead.
