What are the differences in meaning?

(1) "I have decided to travel around the world on holiday." - I decided in past and I am still determinated to do that

or

(1) "I decided to travel around the world on holiday." - I decided in the past, however, it is not necessary that I am still sure to do that now or just talking about action in the past that happend?

(2) "I have discovered this beautiful lake that is nestled in untouched nature." - how does present perfect affect meaning in this sentence? I would normally use "I discovered" and I do not know why I can also use present perfect

or

(2) "I discovered this beautiful lake that is nestled in untouched nature."

Thank you very much. I highly appreciate every help.

The result of much thinking about what to do on holiday.

One of the events of a longer story.

(2) "I have discovered this beautiful lake ...

I answered a very similar question in a previous post.
