Hi everyone.

Which sentence is correct?

1) Put these things up the closet.

2) Put these things up on the closet.

I think 2) is correct. but I can't explain why.
If 2) is in fact correct, I am hoping somebody could tell me why it would be so.

Do 'put' and 'up' form a phrasal verb here? and is this why 'up' can be immediately followed by an other preposition 'on' ? ,or is this just a combination of two preposition 'up'+'on'
Lastely, what is the difference between 'upon' and 'up' 'on' separately?

Thank you so much in advance

Which sentence is correct?-- Neither seems right to me. Either 'Put these up in the closet' or 'Put these up on the wardrobe'.

Do 'put' and 'up' form a phrasal verb here?- No. 'Up' is just an adverb. Cf: 'Put these down in the basement.'

Lastly, what is the difference between 'upon' and 'up' 'on' separately?--'Upon' = 'on'
