Hi Teachers,

According to the following exercises, both 'a' and 'b' are possible as synonyms for number 1, and 'c' is the correct one for number 2.

1.-

You will see that your writing is improving.

a.

augmenting

b.

becoming better

c.

both a and b

2.-

Gradually you will become comfortable communicating in English.

a.

reading

b.

studying

c.

My question is ,'Are the following directions correct for the above exercises?'

Circle the letter of the best synonym(s) for the underlined word.

Thanks in advance
TS

"Augmenting" means to make something greater (NOT BETTER) by adding to it. Example: Tommy is augumenting his summer income by painting houses.
So, for question 1, only B is possible.

Circle the letter of the best synonym(s) for the underlined word. This is OK.

Hi John,

Thank you for your reply and correction.

Then, I'll change 'augmenting' for 'becoming worse'.

Best,
