Renowned/Well-known/Famous scientist Albert Brown will speak at the university tonight.

Are there any marginal differences in meanings among the underlined words? Thanks.
Renowned and famous mean much the same thing. I think renowned tends to be used to describe people in the literary arts/sciences - a renowned author or scientist, whilst famous is more used for people in entertainment - famous actor or pop star. Well known can apply to either, and just means without particular achievements to get them the status of renowned or famous.
Thanks, Tidus, for the clear reply.
