I have previously put in an application to join a society, but they told me that they are currently just recruiting first year students. This is my reply to their email, can anyone give me some advice on whether is it appropriate to reply in this way? Many thanks for your help in advance! Emotion: big smile

Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me. But unfortunately, I am currently doing my second year course in xxx.
I am really interested in this kind of project. Is there any other projects or chances that will be opening to other years' students? Or is there still any other recruiting sessions that I may be able to put in my application?
I look forward for your advice, and thanks for your time and assistance.

Yours sincerely,
xxx

Dear Mr [surname],

Thank you for getting back to me. Unfortunately, I am currently in my second year program in xxx.

However, I am very interested in this kind of project. Are there any other projects or opportunities that will be open to upper class students? Or are there any other recruiting sessions for which I may be able to submit my application?

I look forward for your advice, and thank you for your time and consideration.

Yours sincerely,

xxx
