Hello, everybody! I'm glad to join this community and I hope to develop my knowledge using your help.
I have a task to rewrite sentences in more formal style, may I ask for your help? Emotion: smile
Sentences are:
1) I think that there’s a big risk of more strikes, disorder etc.
2) A few years ago they allowed women to vote.
3) Regrettably, the inflation in Russia led to increased poverty, illness and so on.
4) Sometimes soon they will find a vaccine for malaria.
5) What were the main causes of the American Revolution?

Thank you in advance! Maybe you have some good website on your mind to suggest for such purpose - transfer from informal to formal?

Hi,

Go ahead and try, and we will comment.

Have a look eg here for some basic ideas.

Note that simple and direct language is always a good idea. Unnecessarily complex or pompous or verbose language is always a bad idea.

Hi,

So I made something, mostly based on some tips given in the book.

In some cases you have added information, or omitted information. In other words, you have changed the meaning.
I assume you did not intend to do that.

1) Another factor to consider is the possibility of crime increasing.
The original said 'big'.
A strike is not a crime, at least not where I live.

2) Women were allowed to vote in 1945. he original did not mention 1945.

3) The Russian inflation led to poverty and disease.
The original indicated these were just examples.

4) In the near future a vaccine for malaria may be discovered.
The original stated it as a fact, You have said 'may', ie a possibility.

5) There were three main causes of the American Revolution.
The original was a question. This seems to be an answer.

Do you want to try again?

That's an interesting start, but it is only a fragment of a sentence. For example, there is no verb.

We decided to delay launching our new tracking software because we were having technical problems with it and we haven't sold as much of our existing tracking software as we'd hoped to, as you'll understand
