First of all, before I post more questions that I need answered, I wanted to clarify a couple of things. These questions are problems about sentence correction and/or grammar that I do not understand. They are part of an Extra Credit Grammar Assignment in my Business Communication class. I am directing these questions to anyone that can help (i.e. not specifically teachers or students.) I'm sorry to have offended anybody or misplaced my question in my last thread. I have already fixed some parts of the sentences, that I believe needed to be fixed. However, feel free to let me know if I am correct.

*The number in parentheses denotes the # of mistakes according to the homework.

1. When we 1st arrived we attended a seminar on unique sales strategies. (2)
- The only problem I noticed was "1st." It should be written out as "first."
- I think the second problem is with the last three words. It should be capitalized, underlined, or italicized. I just don't know which.

2. The Seminar Topic was "How to Make Your Sales Calls Count". (4)
- "Seminar" should not be capitalized.
- "Topic" should not be capitalized.
- The third and fourth problems have to be with what is in quotations. I just don't know what it is.

3. The air conditioner in our Hotel room is to noisy, we can not sleep. (4)
- Hotel should not be capitalized.
- The comma after noisy should be changed to a period.
- "we" should be capitalized.
- ?

4. Neither Sherry or I plan to go to breakfast. Although, I enjoy breakfast more than any other meal. (3)
- "or should be changed to "nor."
- ?
- ?

5. Todays speaker is a world renowned marketing consultant. (2)
-"Todays" should be written as "Today's."
- ?

6. I also heard that Joe Manchin former Governor of WV . will be speaking (4)
- A comma should be placed after "Manchin."
- Period after "WV" should be changed to a comma.
- "will" should be capitalized.
- A period should placed after "speaking."

Thanks for help that can provided! It is very much appreciated!

1. When we 1st arrived we attended a seminar on unique sales strategies. (2)
- The only problem I noticed was "1st." It should be written out as "first."-- Yes

- I think the second problem is with the last three words. It should be capitalized, underlined, or italicized. I just don't know which.-- No. Comma after 'arrived'.

2. The Seminar Topic was "How to Make Your Sales Calls Count". (4)
- "Seminar" should not be capitalized.-- Right

- "Topic" should not be capitalized.-- Right

- The third and fourth problems have to be with what is in quotations. I just don't know what it is.-- This exercise is beginning to look rather prescriptive. Some style guides insist on placing the period inside the quotation mark. Also, 'your' would not be capitalized by some.

3. The air conditioner in our Hotel room is to noisy, we can not sleep. (4)
- Hotel should not be capitalized.-- Right

- The comma after noisy should be changed to a period.-- Right. Or a semicolon.

- "we" should be capitalized.-- Yes, if you use a period.

- ? -- 'Too' is misspelt and 'cannot' is normally one word.

4. Neither Sherry or I plan to go to breakfast. Although, I enjoy breakfast more than any other meal. (3)
- "or should be changed to "nor."- Right

- ?-- 'Although' is a subordinating conjunction, so the second sentence is just a fragment and must be joined to the first with a comma.

- ?-- No comma after 'although'.

5. Todays speaker is a world renowned marketing consultant. (2)
-"Todays" should be written as "Today's."- Yes

- ?- A hyphen is missing after 'world'

6. I also heard that Joe Manchin former Governor of WV . will be speaking (4)
- A comma should be placed after "Manchin."-- Yes

- Period after "WV" should be changed to a comma.-- The words should be written out also.

- "will" should be capitalized.-- No

- A period should placed after "speaking."-- Yes
