I'd say that the traditional form is a), and I would write it like that.

However, people have also been using b) these days, and I wouldn't say it's wrong, but I wouldn't use it.

In the case of this specific sentence, and given the choice, a) is going to work better because it doesn't have that 'for'-'for' repetition.


You know, you can also flip the word order like this if you want:

I waited the whole month of October for my refund.
