I know what sit down strike is, but what does sit-in mean? Except for participate in.
Thanks

It is a non-violent occupation of a building or public place.

Thanks abbie! How are you, anyway? I'm still in my books. I am not translating anything at the moment, but as soon as I take this exam I'll have to start with it.
Bye!

Maybe I`m wrong but it seems that "sit in" has another meaning "babysit - supervise children while their parents are not home". Tell me, am I right?
Yes, it can mean that, Chaoss, but context is everything. If you read Antonia's first post, she was asking about it in the context of strikes.

"Sit-in" can also mean to attend a meeting, lecture etc. that one doesn't usually attend.

"They were having a meeting on X, and as that is my speciality, they asked me to sit in"
