I cannot understand why you think anyone giving an opinion is a waste of your time. War is horrific as your good husband will have told you. The services in Iraq have shown great bravery and courage no one denies this. What people question is whether this war was justified. Certainly Sadam must be imprisoned for his crimes against humanity. Did so many people have to die to get rid of a monster?
Anon,

What exactly is the connection between 9/11 and Iraq?

I too have mixed feelings about this, but there is one thing I'd like to point out about the soldiers currently in the war.

In the US, you have the regular Army, you have the Army Reserves, and you have the Army National Guard.

  • The first group DOES sign up to be professional soldiers, and indeed, they volunteered for this life. It doesn't make it less hard, but it was a choice.

  • The Army Reserve is supposed to be called up for national emergency - they are not supposed to be "professional" soldiers, but soldiers in time of need. Many would argue that at this point they have served well beyond what "they signed up for" but you can also argue that the Army is the Army, and it if the regular Army is at war, the reserves need to be there too.

  • But the third group is supposed to serve for domestic crises. And in my opinion, they are being used in ways that they NEVER agreed to. I think it's a stretch to say that they should be side-by-side with regular Army, overseas. That was never what the Guard was supposed to be for.
Please note when I say "professional" I don't refer to how professionally they behave, but what their own expectation was. I have only the greatest respect for the people serving.

And while I know there is no connection between 9/11 and Iraq, I do agree that the TV doesn't show us any of the good. My daughters' gym teacher was in the Army Reserves, and he is now back teaching. He told about helping to construct schools, helping with the voting process, and other things that DO help the civilian people of Iraq. It makes more headlines to talk about death and chaos and destructions, but on a day-by-day basis, thousands of individual men and women are doing some good things as part of their assigned duties. I don't want to sugar-coat it: there is a lot of bad stuff too, but it's not fair to completely ignore any of the stories of good.
kill , suicide is painless , those situition in iraq ...cause in U.S army and groups terror ,so they pay bill is people iraq and children, women , that situition make people extremists meantimes we can't see 9/11 new , we're must cultivate peace safety ...or any work without peace not won ...

so big question ..

Anonymousobviously you have no idea what you are talking about. My husband is fighting over in iraq right now. I believe in him and you should hear all the progress that is happening. The media is liberal and refuses to say anything good about Bush or this war. Have you forgotten about 9-11? I could go on but you are a waste of my time.
and u believe that all of those iraqis should die?wasn't it enough for you the number of people who has died oh my gosh sorry to say you are soo senseless, and do u really believe that it's a way of solving problems to ask for more killing and terror by what u are doing u are just increasing the number of terrorists who would attack US

SalmanYour international media may don't like to publish any news about American soldiers but if you wanna get the real situation listen Islamic channels.
While I agree that western media leaves a lot to be desired, I think that it is quite ridiculous to think that Islamic media would be superior in quality. It would not hurt to listen to their perspective, but not to give it superior weight.
i know this is out off our topic now but as someone who live in a war situation(in palestine)well u know i don't even need a press to tell me i see it on reality not TV, i would say that this is true the islamic channels is better and it's not rideculous it's a matter of fact, in the west they don't mention what's is really happening for example all the world knew about gilad shalit(the israeli soldier who has been kindnapped) without mentioning the 10000 palestinian who are arrested aND most of them with no reason and they are being tortured the western media don't talk about it at all, they great at only mentioning the israeli part and giving us a small one not mentioning that the western media don't talk about the treatment we get here besides being killed
The first point is that all the wars are evils. Whenever and wherever the war occurred. Sometimes, it is unbelievable to see people lose their legs, arms even lives. Why do we wage the war? The reasons are the limited resources and interests. All competents are contrived to seize the maximume interests of their own. There are such group of people, they can sacrifice the others' lives for their political achievements or economic benefits. I look down up this kind of people who stir the war during the peaceful times. At present, western pressed continute to disperse this kind of words: China is a big threaten to the world, China is going to control the world. Why do you say like that? If I were a wise president, why should I waste my time on conflict with others. Why don't I focus on promote economy. Is the war or the power so important to us? You should understand, it is impossible for a powerful to controle the world. That is the natural rule. If you want to be the big brother of the world, you'd better compeletly eradicate other contries, right? If there are two people, there are differents minds and different intrest, unless both of them don't care about their own interest. Why do a contry wage the war against other country? Most of time, the war is just for politicians. Normal people just follow the leader's order. Wether a contry win the war or lost it, the bigest loser is the soldier instead of leaders. The leaders who stir the war should be condemed.Under one circumstances, I firmly agree to fight. When the invaders put the first step to our country. I agree that if your contry doesn't exist, there is no you or your family. I am going to say, once the Japanese conquer our contry again, we are willing to fight to death in order to save our country. Facing the emergent situation concerning the exsistence or the disapperance of a contry or a nation, we should stand out to fight.

My brother just went back to Iraq for another 6 month deployment.

I was one of those in favor of attacking (or rather helping) Afghanistan and Iraq. Now I see things different: I don't want one more drop of American blood spilled for people that call us infiltrators, infidels and killers.

I want our troops out of Muslim countries. They don't deserve our help. They never appreciated anything we did to free them of dictators and Taliban fighters.

Let them do their thing....this is what they really deserve.
