Hi teachers,

There are some questions that I'm not sure of the correct answer. Could you please correct them.

1- This watch strap is tight; I need to ____ it so it can fit better.
A) modify
B) adjust
C) fix
D) connect

The answer I see is (A)but honestly, I see (B) is OK too.

2-The study helped the scientists gain a lot of ____ into how the brain works.
A) perception
B) cure
C) insight
D) structure

I see to choose (A).

3- Students often use desktop computers to write assignments, ____ they often use their smartphones for communication and sending files.
A) on the other hand
B) however
C) while
D) because

Due to using a comma, I ruled out the word "while" although I see it's suitable in the meaning of the sentence. So I see to choose (B).

4- _____ the flu already, I wasn’t worried about being sick.
A) Having get
B) Having had
C) Had
D) Having got

I see to choose (D). If not, please clarify the reason.

Thank you very much

1- This watch strap is tight; I need to ____ it so it can fit better.
A) modify
B) adjust
C) fix
D) connect

The answer I see is (A)but honestly, I see (B) is OK too. We usually use "adjust" when talking about small changes in the fit of clothes or similar items we wear.

2-The study helped the scientists gain a lot of ____ into how the brain works.
A) perception
B) cure
C) insight
D) structure

I see to choose (A). The expression is "gain insight".

That punctuation is not so unusual for contrastive "while".

4- _____ the flu already, I wasn’t worried about being sick.
A) Having get
B) Having had
C) Had
D) Having got

I see to choose (D). If not, please clarify the reason. You already had the flu. This implies you recovered from it. 'got the flu' sounds more like you just contracted the flu and you are now sick.

My answers in boldface for your comparison.
