Hi,

stalk dining chair

The above phrase appears in the context of a description page of dining room furniture. I doubt that whether there is such a thing called 'stalk dining chair'. Should it be 'stack dining chair' instead? Yes. To be more grammatical, it should really be in the adjectival form, 'stackable'.

Best wishes, Clive
I googled for 'stalk chair' and did get quite a few results, however, those 'stalk chairs' as shown in the pictures I googled were not easily categorized into one group.

Could you please explain in detail what is a 'stalk chair' specifically?

Thanks!

Hi Englishsz

Like Clive, I don't know what a "stalk (dining) chair" might be, and I also didn't get any results at all for "stalk chair" in Google images:

Did you forget to use the quotation marks when you did your search?
Oh! I made a small mistake. The original text is 'stalking dining chair' instead of 'stalk dining chair'. If you google for 'stalking chair', you'll certainly get some results, however, I have no clue at all what the hell these chairs are.

Anyway, this is one:

and this is another:

designed purely with the stalking and roving angler in mind, whether fishing for Carp or Barbel.

Seems to be for fishing ("stalking the fishes" perhaps).
Students: Are you brave enough to let our tutors analyse your pronunciation?
Well, most of the images of "stalking chairs" appear to be from online sporting goods retailers -- fishing and hunting, in particular. Presumably these chairs are used by hunters/fishermen (to sit on) while they're hunting/fishing. Stalking has a meaning similar to hunting.
Stalking dining chair without arm, frame in chrome.
Seat and back panels in bent plywood with lacquered finish and protected by a polyster (PET) film in a textured ivory color.

Now I'm 100% sure the original text is wrong. Thank you guys!
