In storytelling: do you normally use the simple past or the present simple?

If both are possible, when should I use each of them?

Would you please give me some examples?

Thank you.

CalifJimBut the question is whether that is something that lies behind your question about the tenses used in telling a story. Is it relevant to your question? Or not?

Would you please explain the above part further? Thank you again for your patience.

I was asking you if the first question you asked (In storytelling: do you normally use the simple past or the present simple?) was related to the question of how to translate the difference between Italian tenses like cadde vs è caduto (fell).

From further discussion it doesn't seem you were concerned about that.
