I'm a bit confused with the follwing sure issue:

ensure, insure, assure - each one can mean either 'give confidence to, guarantee someone else' or 'make sure that something is as it is' right?

Please let me know if it's wrong.

The three words are not exactly interchangeable though:

Assure= I want to assure you that...

Ensure= I want to ensure that...

Insure= I want to insure my [house, car, family, etc., against loss]..

It appears, from googling, that 'insure' and 'ensure' are frequently interchanged.

Excuse the intrusion, Davkett....I just want to ensure that the poster understand how the sentences might be finished. I assure you that I meant no insult to your explanations.

Hi Philip,

I much appreciate your 'intrusion', and I'm sure Maverick can assure you of the same. The advantage of a variety of commentators here is a kind of insure-ance against errors or inadeqate responses.
