Would you please tell me what this sentence means?
I don't understand "swollen shut".
"The window frame was swollen shut."
Someone who has been hit near the eye can have his eye swollen shut as well. There is so much swelling (puffiness) that he cannot open his eye.
(Just to give you another use, not to contradict the prior answer in any way.)

Unsealed or poorly sealed wood can swell from moisture (rain or ambient humidity). This sentence is saying that the (wooden) frame was swollen such that the window was unable to move, couldn't be opened.
